Cameras snapshot

Hi,

No having been successful with Google Chrome - Mixed Content - Media Not Showing
i would like to seek for a workaround

I have Reolink cameras, integrated in a Synology interface, which is itself integrated in my Homey and thus available also in sharptools as a homey tile that can in homey show snapshots when clicked on but in Sharptools i guess the tile can only show a movement alerts.

This being said how could i best with this setup have a few cameras showing regular snapshots on Sharptools?

What type of devices is this on?

And can you share more details about the URL or source you are trying to embed? Sounds like it could be one of:

  • Reolink camera (direct) - I used Reolink cameras at my previous home and have done this before
  • Synology interface - is this from “Surveillance Station”?
  • Homey “Thing” Integration - you might be able to use the Homey Image Display custom tile

Does Surveillance Station have an option where you can embed their viewer webpage directly?

Blue Iris is a popular NVR solution and while historically most people would embed the MJPEG streams or camera snapshots directly, I played with embedding the Blue Iris stream interface directly and it’s a really clean experience:

Hi,

I’m on Android tablets, on the same network as my cameras

On the tiles i tried to create six month ago, i used the following link in the media
http://192-168-1-102.nip.io/cgi-bin/api.cgi?cmd=Snap&channel=0&rs=kd7f8djlleaijd8sjs9e&user=xxxx&password=xxxxx

Hi,
Bump

So the camera snapshots work fine on PC, but show as “failed to load image” on android

What browser are you using on the Android tablets?

The special nip.io address you are using works around a weird quirk with Chrome allowing ‘Mixed Content’ when mixed content is explicitly allowed for a site, but the address is still fundamentally HTTP (not SSL) and each browser would need to explicitly be configured to allow the mixed content.

So if you try to use it on an Android Chrome version or Fully Kiosk Browser, you would still need to explicitly allow the mixed content (or otherwise properly support SSL).

The Google Chrome - Mixed Content - Media Not Showing link you mention specifically calls out these different browser types and approaches for each.

Thanks for your answer, appreciated
unfortunately we are now exceeding my technical capacities, i will have to drop this topic

If you want to give it a try, the steps are laid out in the previously mentioned Google Chrome - Mixed Content - Media Not Showing thread under the Disable Mixed Content Blocking section near the top.

And if you run into any difficultly with the steps, feel free to ask.

For example, if you’re using the app Fully Kiosk Browser to display your SharpTools dashboards, you should just need to tweak the setting:

Advanced Web Settings ▸ Mixed Content Mode: Always Allow Mixed Content.
