This is probably a dumb question, but I added an Aeotec Hub to my Home. I already have a SmartThings v2 Hub If I add devices to the new Hub, and update my connection with SharpTools, will these devices be available in SharpTools? I haven’t tried it yet, so I wanted to ask before I mess it up. By the way, the Aeotec Hub shows up as a device in SharpTools, although it has no options for doing anything with it, which is to be as expected. Thanks.
SharpTools support authorizing multiple SmartThings locations (each with their own hub).
So yes, you can add new devices to the new hub + location, then authorize that to SharpTools in addition to your existing location.
Caution: Transferring Devices Between Hubs
Note that if you disconnect devices from one hub and reconnect them to the new hub, those will show up as brand new devices to both SmartThings and SharpTools. Even though they’re the same physical device, they would be seen as separate logical devices.
In other words, if you have an existing dashboard or rule with references to devices on one hub, if you transfer those devices to a new hub, the dashboard and rule would still point to the old instance of the device and you would have to manually update the dashboard/rule accordingly.
Thanks for the reply. I can’t believe it, considering how much time I’ve wasted with this lock, and trying an Echo as a Thread Border Router, and trying to set up some monitoring routines using Alexa and WiFi, that it just worked with the Aeotec Hub. Yay! All set up in SharpTools, too!
