I took a brief look at the custom device handler that you linked, and if you use the Peter Nixon custom device handler, it should show up under the “Which switches?” authorization section when attempting to authorize the device to SharpTools.
If the standard version that shows “placeholder” implements at least the Sensor or Actuator capability, you should be able to authorize it manually following these instructions:
