Smart Home Maintenance and Reliability

I’m exasperated.

It’s one of those days when I consider throwing in the towel.

It seems that hardly a day goes by without having to reinstall, update, reboot, or otherwise tinker with something.

Today, all five of my Schlage locks have stopped communicating with the Smartthings hub. I’ve rebooted Smartthings. I’ve also rebooted my Orbi wifi network even though pretty sure it wasn’t the culprit.

I don’t know what the next step should be. Perhaps I should move them to another hub. They were originally on Hubitat but battery life was poor. (I’ve read that this has been improved.) I looked at moving them to Home Assistant, but that integration appears to be beyond my skill level. Should I attempt to reinstall them on Smartthings?

Yesterday it was the Onkyo receiver integration on Home Assistant. A reboot brought it back to life.

A few days ago the Tesla integration on Home Assistant abruptly stopped working. I worked on it for a few days before giving up; in the big picture it’s not that important.

But the door locks are important.

Rant over - but still exasperated…
