Setting up first alert smoke detector in sharptools

Looking for a little help. I’m connected to sharp tools via Homey Pro and Smartthings, and just got my First Alert interconnected smoke detectors hardwired via Konnected Alarm Panel Pro. State currently shows clear. When I tested the smoke alarm my tile did not change state.

  • In the tile layout I only have one option, the hero attribute. Under style I have added smoke attribute, but do not know what to add under operator or target. Do also need to add another state for clear?

Can you share the device details as reported in SharpTools? Particularly the capabilities and attributes?

  1. Open your SharpTools User Page
  2. Tap the next to the location in question
  3. Scroll down and tap on the device
  4. Screenshot or copy the Capabilities and Attribute Values sections

As for the values to use for configuring styles, the best approach is to review what values the device is actually reporting (eg. in your Hero Attribute) and you can use the lowercase version of that value when configuring styles.

The smoke attribute typically reports detected and clear. So you can either use each of those or just the inverse of one:

smoke == detected [ACTIVE]
smoke == clear    [DEFAULT]

Or:

smoke == detected  [ACTIVE]
smoke != detected  [DEFAULT]

I just noticed this comment too. I would make sure that the Hero Attribute tile has been added to a dashboard and saved.

The SharpTools Homey ‘app’ only listens to events for devices you’ve explicitly used on a dashboard or in a SharpTools rule. When a dashboard is saved with a new device, an event listener is setup… if the device doesn’t seem to be updating status in SharpTools, there are two things I would try:

  1. Try refreshing your browser page while viewing the dashboard with the device

    This kicks off a healthcheck behind the scenes that can fix common event listener issues

  2. Try restarting the SharpTools Homey ‘app’

    On the app’s settings page, tap the ‘Restart’ button

Josh, i’m still have problems getting the state to change on my First Alert interconnected hardwired smoke & CO detectors. my smoke & CO detector is set up through Konnected - Smartthings - Sharptools. Any other ideas what I might try?

Hi @Jan_King - sorry to hear that! I don’t think I ever saw the answers to the questions above:

  • Can you share the attributes / capabilities reported by the device?
  • Is the detected / clear status updating as expected? Sometimes just adding it as a Hero Attribute so you can directly see the status for troubleshooting is helpful.
  • Did you try the troubleshooting steps in my second reply (refreshing dashboard page, restarting SharpTools Homey ‘app’)?
