The search input in the Dashboard and Rule lists now automatically remembers your previous search term (temporarily) and the results can be navigated with the up/down keys on your keyboard!
Search Term Memory (temporary)
When you use the search box on the Dashboard or Rule Engine lists, it will now remember the search term as you click into results and then navigate back to the search list!
When I use the search box, I often found myself needing to click into a result to see if it’s the item I’m looking for. I would usually quickly notice it’s not what I want and navigate back to the list of items only to have to re-enter my search term again.
Now when you enter a search term, you can click into any of the results and navigate back and it will automatically filter the list back down to your original search query.
If you navigate away from the rule/dashboard area completely or reload the page, the search term is automatically cleared and of course you can always manually clear the search term.
Keyboard Navigation in Search
When you use the search box on the Dashboard or Rule Engine lists, you can now use the keyboard ↑/↓ to navigate through the results and select an entry by pressing Enter ⏎/return.
This is especially helpful for keyboard warriors who love to navigate everything without having to take their hands of the keyboard to use a mouse!
Another small update is that the search box is automatically focused on the Dashboard or Rule Engine lists when accessed from a computer or laptop which makes it easier to quickly start typing and find what you are looking for!
Other Minor Enhancements
- Filtered lists automatically update when the underlying data updates
For example, if you create a new rule or dashboard in another tab, the filtered list will automatically update to reflect the new item
- Improved ease of clicking the search box in Manage Variables when in the Rule List
