[Resolved] Multi-Device command stopped working on Friday Night

I have a rule that turns off multiple devices based on a simulated switch. This is integrated to Alexa with Good Night LocationName setting the switch. This has been working fine, but Friday night it stopped working. Alexa is acknowledging the command and I can see the rule was triggered, but nothing happens on the Smartthings devices. When looking in the log I see the attached file

It was triggered, but that last error (Failed to send commands to 30 of 30 devices) is of interest, This is the text of the view action.

I can turn the devices off in Smartthings 1 by 1, so the question is did something change in Sharptools or Smartthings to cause multi-device commands to fail?

What about from SharpTools?

The first thing I would try is to proceed through the authorization for SmartThings starting from your SharpTools User Page to make sure you have a fresh, valid authorization.

Josh, I have lots of other rules that turn individual lights that are in this rule on and off and they work fine. It seems to be related to the multi device aspect of this rule. I have other rules that do multi device on a smaller number of devices, so not sure if its the fact this has 30 devices or what.

Can you share more details?

Behind the scenes, a multi device command is basically just a bunch of individual commands issued in parallel.

Edit: Since you are sending the command to such a large bulk of devices and having trouble with it, you could try to create an automation/scene in SmartThings that you could execute from your SharpTools rule.

Not sure what you are asking. I could break this into 3 groups of 10 or 6 of 5, is that what your asking? It just seems odd that 30 of 30 are failing and nothing that is on turns off, so it really is failing fir all.

It sounds like the rule in question with the 30 device multi-device command also has individual light commands and they work even after you’ve started experiencing the multi-device command failing? What does the rule look like? What’s working and what isn’t?

You also alluded to other rules having multi device commands with a smaller number of devices… are you implying that those rules with a smaller device count for multi-device commands are still working after you experienced the main rule in question starting to fail to send the multi device commands?

I’m basically just asking for any other details you can provide as this isn’t a known issue, so I’m trying to help work through what’s working and what’s not as a first step.

I have rules that turn lights on, 4-6 lights that are working. I actually created copies that will do 3 groups of 10 to see if that works, it will run tonight. I will let you know if that works.

After 2 days of failing as I reported, it now works, the initial rule executes successfully. I will watch it over the next few days and update.
