Location Limits for Individual Plans

We’ve rolled out location limits for individual SharpTools plans to help prevent commercial-style usage on personal plans and keep SharpTools sustainable for normal personal use. For most people, nothing changes.

  • Premium individual accounts support up to 5 locations
  • New free accounts support 1 location
  • Existing free users with multi-location setups were grandfathered in
  • Existing commercial agreements were not impacted
  • A small number of affected users will receive an email in the next few days with next steps

If you’re at a limit, your SharpTools User Page will show a warning with guidance on what to do next.

SharpTools is built first and foremost for individual users and households. Over time, we’ve seen a small amount of usage that looks much more like commercial or large-scale deployment on individual plans.

This update is meant to protect the platform without disrupting normal users. If you receive an email from us and your setup is legitimate personal use, just reply and explain your use case. If your usage is commercial, we’ll help point you toward the right licensing path.

Emails should go out within the next few days, and existing accounts have a 30-day grace period with their current excess location allotment. That gives impacted users time to confirm personal use or upgrade to commercial licensing before the standard limits are enforced.

A quick follow-up: during this rollout, we introduced a bug that could prevent some rules from triggering when they relied on SharpTools Variable updates. That issue has now been fixed. If you noticed a Variable-based rule stop firing unexpectedly after the rollout, it should now be working again.

If you use a Variable to repeatedly retrigger a rule in an ongoing loop, you may need to manually kick that rule off once to get it running again.
