Updating the “layout” of a tile (ie: Echo Speaks Device Tile) returns just a white bar at the bottom of the dashboard icon on Chrome/Mac
Thanks for reporting and sorry to hear that things aren’t working as expected.
I’m not able to reproduce this in my testing so far. I’ve tried a wide range of device types across all the available layout variations for those devices (Dimmers, Locks, Thermostats, Media Players, Window Shades, Buttons, Weather, Custom Devices, Garage Doors, etc), but haven’t been able to reproduce this.

Can you try other Thing types to see if you are able to narrow down if it’s just the Echo Speaks Device or certain device types? And can you try on a brand new dashboard with no customizations on it?
Also, can you confirm what frontend version you are able to reproduce the issue on?
Since it’s happening on Chrome on a Mac, can you try opening Chrome’s Developer Tools and watch the ‘Console’ tab while you reproduce the issue to see if an error is reported? If so, can you highlight the whole text of the error, then copy and paste it here?
Hey Josh,
It does appear to be on the Echo Speaks (device) view tile. I added to a Test dashboard and it did the same thing. I added a different Echo device and the same issue. My ‘test’ dashboard is still on my account.
Front End Version:
260305.2322
>>> looks like you may have literally just fixed this. Not seeing the same issue I was 10 mins ago.
Thanks for the update! I have been pushing out little fixes here and there following the big frontend upgrade, but I can’t think of anything recent that would have helped here.
I’m wondering if it might be related to the device being in a certain state when you attempt to change the layout. If the issue occurs again, can you try to take a look at the Chrome DevTools console logs for any errors while you reproduce the issue? Thanks! ![]()
