Help with Variable tile Changing when one device active

Hello. I just starting using sharp tools (was previously using action tiles). Im trying to make a dashboard tile glow (or even change icon pic) when one of the any devices are in use. I added a variable tile to my dashboard, in the hope for example if one of my water sensors detects a leak, the icon will change.

***Update got it working, screenshot of my rule below. Once rule was in I added the variable tile and change icon state/style.

I have added some dashboard shortcuts on my main page (helps to declutter). I would like these pages to “glow” or something to give me a headsup if on of these devices are used/active.

It’s not natively supported as a feature you can just toggle on Dashboard tiles, but you can accomplish it using SharpTools Rules to aggregate the status of multiple devices into a variable… then use that variable in place of your Dashboard tile configured to link to your desired dashboard.

  • Note that in this example, James added each device as individual triggers / conditions, but you can just add all the devices in a single trigger, then add all the devices in a single condition
  • He also used a Virtual Switch, but a Variable is easier and better for this
