The native Super Tile gauge has solid segments.
You might be able to use one of the Gauge Custom tiles to achieve blended segments – if I remember correctly, the Apex Gauge variant supports a gradient / fading with the advanced customization, but I’m not certain. Let us know if you give it a try!

I’m having the same problem - the font size seems to change a bit at random. Initially it was quite large and I was thinking of making it smaller, but first I was working on another Item in my super tile. When I saved the change to the unrelated item, then I noticed the font size changed and is now quite small. I need a “goldilocks” font size 
Is there a way to control it?
