2026 Browser Requirements Update

I wanted to give everyone a heads up about some upcoming changes to our browser requirements.

What’s happening

We’re modernizing our frontend platform to take advantage of what modern browsers can do. For most users, this should translate to snappier performance and smoother interactions. It also sets the foundation for some new capabilities we’ve been wanting to build.

As part of this update, we’re adjusting our browser requirements:

Recommended Browsers: Chrome 100+, Safari 15+, Firefox 100+, Edge 100+

Minimum Requirements: ES2015 support: Chrome 49+, Safari 10+, iOS 10.3+, Firefox 18+ (compatibility mode; not actively tested)

Browsers older than these minimums, including Internet Explorer, will no longer be compatible after this update.

Timeline

We’re targeting Spring 2026, with a beta rollout first so beta users can test before it goes live.

What if I’m affected?

Based on our analysis, approximately 0.1% of active users are on browsers below the minimum requirements. If you’re using an older device as a dedicated dashboard display and aren’t sure if it meets the requirements, the easiest check is whether your browser was released after 2016.

If you are affected and unable to upgrade your device, please reach out to support – we’ll work with you on options.

Hi, I use Amazon Fire tablets with the Kiosk browser. Replacing it would mean having to replace my tablets, which would be a big problem. So, does this update change your visibility into my configuration? Thanks.

The software version is what matters most. Fire Tablets usually bundle their browser engine with the OS updates and it is Chromium based so it’s basically the same guidance as Chrome above.

You can view the underlying Chromium version on the Fully Kiosk Settings: Other Settings > Device Info: Webview Version. Or if you navigate to tinyurl.com/vue3b in your Fully Kiosk Browser and it shows green/working you should be good to go.

Sounds great! Also looks like the risk/reward has been calculated, looking forward to what we can do with new dashboards in the new builds!

Hello! I also use Amazon Fire Tablets but use WallPanel for my dashboards. I navigated to the tinyurl you provided and the page displays. I’m hoping that means my setup will also be good?

Thanks for this information!

Yes, if it’s reporting “Working” for everything, you should be good.

The update is available in beta and I’ve added you to the beta group and sent you a PM with more details. (I haven’t posted a beta thread yet, but will do so in the coming days)

For those of you with beta access, the frontend platform updates are now available per the following (private) beta thread:

[BETA] 2026 Frontend Platform Update

Just to set expectations accordingly, this update is more about platform sustainability and future proofing. The original version of the frontend framework that powers the SharpTools interface is reaching end-of-life, and this is a major update that touches almost every aspect of the frontend.

That being said, you may notice smoother interactions - particularly with large, complex dashboards on modern devices - as a benefit of the modernized framework. And being on a modern, supported framework puts us in a better position to build new things going forward.
