We’re excited to announce the next SharpTools.io release!
This release includes a new ‘State Mapping’ feature which enables you to define which icon and which color you want for each ‘state’ a device is in. This release also includes a brand new Window Shade tile designed to work with motorized blinds, shades, etc.
Icon and Color State Mappings
The following tile types support icon/color state mappings in this release:
- Contact Sensor
- Motion Sensor
- Presence Sensor
- Switch and Switch Level
- Lock
- Valve
- Water Sensor
- Door Control and Garage Door Control
- Window Shade
Here’s a preview of what the state mapping screen looks like for the Contact Sensor:
Temperature State Mappings
There’s also a special fully customizable state mapping available for Temperature Sensors which lets you add your own custom thresholds for displaying custom states.
Keep in mind that the first matching state wins, so order your comparisons accordingly. Also note that you can toggle the ‘Advanced’ switch on to delete states.
The Temperature Measurement tile has also been updated with a few other neat features. You can configure the tile to display the temperature in a large font in the center of the tile (Hero Content) and optionally display an icon alongside the value. Almost like a mini Hero Attribute tile.
Window Shade Tile
This release also includes a brand new Window Shade tile designed to be used with motorized blinds and shades.
This tile is very similar to the Switch tile in that the default action is to toggle between open/closed states and if the device supports setting the position (level), you can long-press on the tile to bring up the range/slider selection.
The tile also supports customizing the default click action as long as the Window Shades support level / range control.
If your Window Shade device doesn’t implement one of the core capabilities supported by SharpTools (like Switch), you may have to authorize the device manually. Please refer to the How To Authorize Unrecognized Things for details on how to authorize these devices.
We’ll work on getting an update out to our SmartThings and Hubitat apps to add Window Shades directly to the authorization list, but that has a longer lead-time so the manual authorization approach is the best alternative for now
