When a device tile gets deleted it is replaced on the dashboard by a placeholder. However, if the device tile is anything other than 1x1 then the whole dashboard gets re-flowed and screwed up.
It would be much better to replace any deleted tiles with a placeholder of the same dimensions. At least then I could see what my dashboard used to look like and it would be much easier to edit.
